Smoke still on tap for Tuesday

Another smoky day is on tap for much of the state, and an Air Quality Health Advisory is in effect for several counties.

What's new today?

Eagle County and Pitkin County are now included in the advisory area. Folks in Aspen, Woody Creek, Basalt, Eagle, and Vail woke up to hazy skies and smoke.

What's staying the same today?

The rest of the advisory area remains the same. Moderate to heavy smoke is still possible throughout the advisory area through at least Wednesday morning.

What's coming next?

There is a chance of rain in Colorado's future. Thunderstorms are possible in western and central Colorado, starting Tuesday evening. Rain from these storms could slow fire growth, helping fire crews contain the blazes.

However, we aren't completely in the clear just yet. Lightning from these storms could spark new fires. CDPHE meteorologists are tracking these storms and watching for new fire starts.

For today, smoke will linger across much of the state. Stay tuned for an update by Wednesday morning.
