After days of stagnant, smoky, dry conditions, changes are coming. By Wednesday afternoon, thunderstorms will develop across Colorado. Rain will help limit fire growth, and wind may help clear smoke from the air. Also, a shift in the upper level winds will decrease the amount of smoke that is transported to areas further away from the fires.
Air Quality Health Advisories remain in effect until at least Thursday morning. However, smoke is not expected to travel as far on Wednesday, and fewer areas are included in today's advisories. Only the counties closest to the fires are included. Moderate to heavy smoke is still possible in advisory areas. If smoke is heavy in your area, it's good to limit your exposure and take precautions to protect your health.
Air quality advisories are in effect, but for a much smaller area than yesterday.
