A fire in Weld County is producing significant amounts of smoke, and has created hazy, smoky conditions in areas near Greeley. Monitors are showing a rapid rise in fine particulate concentrations in Greeley and Evans. Folks in these areas should remain aware of potential health impacts due to smoke.
If you are sensitive to smoke, remaining indoors with the windows closed and use of air cleaners is recommended if possible. Reducing heavy physical exertion, especially outdoors, can also help to reduce potential health impacts. Increasing chances of precipitation and shifting winds are expected to improve conditions Friday afternoon. As of this writing (~11 am Friday, 9/18/26) conditions do not yet meet criteria for the issuance of an Air Quality Health Advisory.
